He was born 1757. He enlisted while a resident of Buckingham Co., Va., in Capt. Tabb's company, Col. Charles Dabney's Virginia regiment and was in the Siege of Yorktown after which he was detailed under Capt. Ewell, serving twelve months in all. He died in Jefferson County, Nov. 22, 1833. He married Jan. 2, 1792 or Oct. 26, 1794, in Chesterfield Co., Va., Nancy Roper, who was born Jan. 25, 1773. She died in Bradley Co., Tenn., June 28, 1851. They had the following children: Nancy, Jack, Sally, Polly, Rhodey, Josiah, John R., William H., George W., Elizabeth who married Henry Price, James S. and Robert W.
