Know all men by These presents that we Lea Ballenger and John Neal all of 
Jefferson County in the State of Tennessee are held and firmly bound unto 
James C. Jones esquire Governor Of the State of Tennessee and his Successors 
in Office in the Sum of Twelve hundred and Fifty dollars to be void on 
condition there be no lawful cause to prevent a marriage from being solemnized 
in the County of Jefferson between Lea Ballenger and Julian Brazelton.  
Witness our hands & seals the 28th December A. D. 1842.

or Justice of the Peace of said County.
Greeting:     I, Joseph Hamilton Clerk of the County Court of Jefferson & 
State aforesaid do by these presents authorize you or either of you to join 
together as husband & wife Lea Ballenger to Julian Brazelton according to the 
Ceremony of your Church. Given at office in Dandridge the 28 December A. D. 
1842.

December 28th 1842.  This day the above named couple was Joined together by me 
as Husband & Wife.

County Court, in and for said County, Do hereby certify that Lea Ballinger and 
Julian Brazelton were joined in Marriage by John Daily a Justice of Peace on 
the 28 day of Dec. A. D. 1842 as appears from the Marriage Record now in my 
office.  Witness my hand and the seal of said Court at office in Dandridge, 
this 7 day Of July A. D. 1890.
