STATE OF TENNESSEE, JEFFERSON COUNTY.
   Know all Men by these Presents, That we, James TRAVIS and John DOUGLASS are 
held and firmly bound unto the State of Tennessee, in the sum of Twelve 
Hundred and Fifty Dollars, to be void on condition there be no lawful cause to 
prevent a Marriage from being solemized in the County of JEFFERSON between 
James TRAVIS and Mary CORNET. 
   Witness our hands and seals, this 8th day of August,A.D., 1857

To any regular Minister of the Gospel having the care of souls, or any Judge 
or Justice of the Peace~Greeting:
 
   James M. Nicholson, Clerk of the County for the COUNTY of JEFFERSON 
aforesaid, by virtue of the powers in me vested by law, do license you, or 
either of you, to celebrate the Rights of Matrimony, between James TRAVIS and 
Mary CORNETT by uniting them together as HUSBAND and WIFE.
 
   Given at Office in Dandridge the 8th day of August 1857, and of American 
Independence the 82nd.
