Marriage Bond 
Hand Written by the Court Clerk of Jefferson Co., TN. 
 
Know all men by these presents that we, JOSEPH TRAVIS and JOHN PEIRCE are held 
and firmly bound unto the State of Tennessee, in the sum of Twelve Hundred and 
Fifty Dollars, to be void on condition that there be no lawful cause to 
prevent a marriage from being solemnized in the County of JEFFERSON between 
JOSEPH TRAVIS and CATHERINE WELLS.
 
   WITNESS our hands and seals, this 25th day of January 1865.

   To any regular Minister of the Gospel having the care of souls, or any 
Judge or Justice of the Peace for said County:..........Greeting:
 
I, James  M. Nicholson, Clerk of the County Court for the County of JEFFERSON, 
aforesaid, by Virtue of the power in me vested by law, do license you or 
either of you to celebrate the rites of Matrimony between JOSEPH TRAVIS and 
CATHERINE WELLS by uniting them together as Husband and Wife.
   Given at Office, in Dandridge the 25th day of January 1865, and of American 
Independence the 89th.
