All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/tn/tnfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Jackie Rhodes kjrhodes@tycom.net September 18, 2006, 3:33 pm Source: Will Book I 1792-1810 Pages 283, 284, 285 Written: September 18, 1807 In the name of God amen, this eighteenth day of September one thousand eight hundred seven I George Lewis of the County of Jefferson nd State of Tenesee South of French Broad River being weakly in body; but of perfect mind and memory, thanks to the almighty God, therefore calling into mind the mortality of my body, and knowing that to do is appointed for all men once to die, as make and ordain my last Will and Testament that is to say prinsiply and first of all I give and recomend my Soal into the hands of almighty God that gave it and my body I (illegible) mind to the Earth to be buried in a decent Christian burial at the discresions of my Executors nothing doubting but at the General Resurrection I shall receive the same again by the mighty power of God, and s touching such worldly Estate wherewith it has pleased God to bless me in this life, I devise that all my lawful debts should be paid, the rest I give, devise and dispose of in the following manner and form. Impremis I give and bequath unto my well beloved wife Rachel Lewis my lands, (illegible) and her (illegible) with all the movable property I possess so long as she continues my Widow. Then at her death or marrage then I give to my beloved son Jacob Lewis one dollar. Then I give to an equal part and shear of all my Land and property to each and every one of my other children, as my beloved Daughter Leah, my beloved Son Amos Lewis, my beloved Son Aaron Lewis, my beloved Daughter Magdalene, my Son bewived Levi Lews, my beloved Son Enoch Lewis, my bleoved Son Gabriel Lewis, my Beloved Son Eli Lewis, my beloved Son George Lewis. Then I likewise constitute and make and ordain my dearly beloved Wife Rachel Lewis and beloved Son Amory Lewis my joint Executors of this my last Will and testment, and do hereby uterly disalou revoke and make void all and ever other. I do ordain and confirm (illegible) enterlined before.
