I Freeman Vandyke of the County of Jefferson and state of Tennessee being sick and a weak of body but of sound mind and disp____ memory, for which I thank God, and calling the to mind the uncertainty of human life and being desirous to dispose of all such worldly substance as it hath pleased God to bless me with, I give and bequeath the same in manner following that is to say, First I desire that my just debts be paid, and for the said purpose thereof I desire that my executor hereafter named may proceed to have collected the judgment that I obtained in the County Court in Kingston, Roane County against John Reilly for which I have William E. Anderson receive for collection, which is sufficient to pay my just debts, and if not collected I desire that a part of my personal property be sold to satisfy my debts. Secondly after the payment of my just debts and funeral expenses I give to my wife Mary Vandyke the whole of my estate, both real and personal, for and during the term of her natural life, and after her decease I give the land that I now live on to my five sons, namely John, Henry, James, David, and R. Wilson, equally to be divided among them and to be enjoyed by them and their heirs forever. Thirdly, after the death of my wife I desire that the whole of the personal property, if any there be, to be sold by my executor's and equally divided between all of my children namely John, Henry, James, David, R. Wilson, Sally, Betsy, and Polly and to be enjoyed by them and their heirs forever. And lastly I do hereby constitute and appoint my friends George Doherty and James Lawrence executors of this my last Will and testament, hereby revoking all other or former wills or testaments by me heretofore void. In the witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this first day of May in the year of our Lord 1830. Doherty State of Tennessee Jefferson County June sessions 1830 Then was the last will and testament of Freeman Vandyke, deceased duly proven in open court by Joseph Gant to and George M. Doherty, the subscribing witnesses to the same and ordered to be recorded, and thereupon came George Doherty, Jr. and James Lawrence the executors named in said will and entered into bond with security for the faithful discharge of their duty therein and was qualified.
