Campbell MOHAWK -- Dorothy Whitehead Campbell, 91, McDonald Road, died Sunday, May 7, 2006, at home. Mrs. Campbell was the daughter of the late Carson Hamilton Whitehead and Abbie Gill Campbell Whitehead and her stepmother, Eliza Whitehead. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Newman J. Campbell, four brothers, Herbert Whitehead, Clyde Whitehead, Frank Whitehead and Bobby Whitehead, and two sisters, Frances Hafner and Mae Reed. Mrs. Campbell retired after 40 years as a beautician at MAEQueen Beauty Shop. She attended Beulah Baptist Church where she sang in the choir. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed working with crafts. She was a member of Butler Christian Church in Old Butler, Tenn., and a graduate of Watauga Academy in Old Butler. One of her hobbies was playing the piano. Survivors include three sisters and a brother-in-law, Christine Dye, of Kentucky, Sarah and Mike Sellers, Johnson City, and Jean Stewart, Springfield, Tenn.; five brothers and sisters-in-law, J.D. and Dorothy Whitehead, Johnson City, Edward and Ruby Whitehead, Johnson City, Bill and Mary Alice Whitehead, Greeneville, Paul and Jean Whitehead, Jacksonville, Fla., and Bud and Betty Whitehead, Johnson City; two additional sisters-in-law, Bonnie Campbell and Virgie Campbell, both of Greeneville; nine nieces and three nephews; a very special friend, Joyce "Doc" Moody, Mohawk; and caregivers, Marg Douthat and Nonah White. Funeral services for Mrs. Campbell will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 9, at Kiser Funeral Chapel. Interment will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 10, at Andrew Johnson National Cemetery with Pastor John Rogers officiating. Active pallbearers will be Mark Ferguson, Chester Purgeson, Mike Sellers, Bud Whitehead, Vince Whitehead, Tommy Whitehead, Edward Whitehead and Jeff Davis. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Beulah Baptist Church and friends and neighbors of Mohawk and Greeneville. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday preceding the funeral service. It is requested that family and friends meet at Kiser Funeral Home at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday to go in procession to the cemetery.
