Ms. Clawson was born July 16, 1921 to the late John Fate and Elizabeth Hollifield Clawson. Ms. Clawson was a life-long member of Piney Grove Church of Christ, Poga, where she was the Children's Sunday School teacher at one time. She was a homemaker and a generous caregiver to others. She enjoyed nature, storytelling and living life to the fullest. She always had a positive attitude and a heart of gold. She indeed brought happiness to those whose lives she touched. Her great-grandchildren, Taylor and Elijah, were the lights of her life. Ms. Clawson will forever be remembered in the hearts of those she knew and loved. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by seven brothers, Randolph, Zeke, Monroe, Jessee, Jack, Sam and Brownlow, and three sisters, Anna Mae Morgan, Lucinda Potter and Leitha Clawson. Survivors include a daughter, Gail Harmon of Elizabethton; two granddaughters and a grandson-in-law, Jeannie and Chris Guess of Elizabethton and Joannie Harmon of Omaha, Neb.; two great-grandchildren, Taylor and Elijah; a brother, Tommy Clawson of Mountain City; special nieces Sue Hicks and Elaine Phillips; and special friends, James Mathis and Buster Mathis. A celebration of her life and receiving of friends will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, August 4, at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton. Friends may also call at the home of her granddaughter, 308 East I Street, Elizabethton, at anytime. The funeral service for Ms. Clawson will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, August 5, at Piney Grove Church of Christ, Poga, with Mr. Dean Estep officiating. Music will be under the direction of the Piney Grove Church of Christ Choir. Friends may gather at the church beginning at 1 p.m. Sunday, prior to the service. Interment will follow in the Clawson Cemetery. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Teresa Clark and the staff of Hillview Health Center and the staff of the Second Floor of Johnson City Medical Center for all their kindness to Ms. Clawson.
