JOHNSON COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Richard Arvil Church, 3 Sep 2003 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- Richard A. Church Arvil Church, age 72, of 229 Sprucy Lane, Mountain City, passed away September 3, 2003 at his residence following an extended illness. He was born on May 24, 1931 to the late Calvin and Edna Brewer Church. Arvil was a retired farmer, a member of Berea Baptist Church, and a United States Army veteran having served in Korea. He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Georgia Dawn Church. Survivors include two daughters, Carol Roark and husband, Billy, of Mountain City; Kitty Glass and fiance, Tim Blevins, of Valley Forge; two sons, Mike Church and wife, Shelia, of King George, Va.; Brian Church and wife, Terry, of Butler; three sisters, Elsie Laws, of Butler; Lon Johnson, of Mountain City, and Nannie Norris, of Ariz.; one brother, Bobby Church, of Neva, Tenn.; his former wife, Alma Church, of Poga Road, Butler, and 13 grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services for Arvil Church, age 72, of 229 Sprucy Lane, Mountain City, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, September 6, 2003 at Berea Baptist Church with Rev. James Pardue officiating. Music will be under the direction of Lois Presnell. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday, September 5, 2003 at Berea Baptist Church. Active pallbearers will be Jimmy Glass, Josh Glass, A.J. Glass, Jayson Church, Steven Church and Brett Epperly. Honorary pallbearers are Jacob Church and Calvin Clawson. Military graveside services will be held following funeral services at the Fritts Cemetery. The family will meet at the residence of 229 Sprucy Lane, Mountain City.
