JOHNSON COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Julia Ann Cowan, 8 Aug 2003 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- Julia A. Cowan Mrs. Julia Ann Cowan, 89, Life Care Center of Elizabethton, formerly of Squibb Drive, Johnson City, died Friday, August 8, 2003, at the Center. Mrs. Cowan was a native of Johnson County and a daughter of the late Henry and Lona Dugger Guy. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Wiley Cowan, in 1980, and by four sisters and two brothers. Mrs. Cowan had lived in Johnson City since 1948. She was a member of Sinking Creek Baptist Church. Survivors include three sons, Tommy Cowan, Glenn Cowan and Billy Jack Cowan; a sister, Mabel Weaver, Elizabethton; and a brother, J.D. Guy, Trap Hill, N.C. Seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren also survive. The funeral service for Mrs. Cowan will be conducted at 8 p.m. Sunday, August 10, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Reece Harris officiating. Music will be under the direction of the Sugar Grove Quartet. Graveside services and interment will be at 11 a.m. Monday, August 11, in the Cowan Cemetery, Butler, with the Rev. Ray Greene officiating. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Friends may also call at Squibb Drive, Johnson City. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 9:45 a.m. Monday to go to the cemetery.
