Evans J.D. Evans, 91, 624 Norris Road, Butler, passed away Wednesday, January 10, 2007, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital. Mr. Evans was born September 18, 1915, to the late Clevo and Gertrude Norris Evans. Mr. Evans was a lifelong resident of Johnson County and a member and Deacon of the Meadowview Baptist Church. He loved farming and retired from the Guard Force at the Bemberg Corporation. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Gladys Walsh Evans; four sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry Dale and Marty Evans, Ray and Gail Evans, Gary Mark and Layna Evans, all of Butler, and Kyle and Lisa Evans of Bristol; four grandsons, Gary R. Evans of Mountain City, Kolby Evans of Bristol, Joe Miller and Josh Miller, both of Butler; a granddaughter, Kylee Evans of Bristol; a great-grandson, Isaac Miller of Butler; and a brother, C.L. Evans Jr. of Hermitage, Tenn. Funeral services for Mr. Evans will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 13, at Meadowview Baptist Church with the Rev. Richard Jones and the Rev. Ray Greene officiating. Music will be provided by the church choir. Interment will follow at Buntontown Cemetery. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the church at 1:50 p.m. Saturday, will be Gary R. Evans, Kolby Evans, Joe Miller, Josh Miller, Delmas Bunton, George Bunton, J.R. Bunton and Larry Eller. Honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons of Meadowview Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence. To those who prefer, memorials may be made in memory of Mr. Evans to the Buntontown Cemetery Fund, c/o Kyle Evans, 329 Mia, Bristol, TN 37620.
