A native of Johnson County, he was a son of the late John and Emeline Courtner Fritts. Mr. Fritts had lived in Carter County since 1943. He was a retired employee of North American Rayon Corporation after 37 years of service and was a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church of Butler. He served in the Army Air Force during World War II. In addition to his parents, Mr. Fritts was preceded in death by a son, Malcolm Fritts, three sisters, Ada White, Elizabeth Laws and Gertrude McCloud, and four brothers, George, Ike, Warren and Burl Fritts. Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Mildred Fay Robinson Fritts; two daughters and sons-in-law, Helen and Harold Huffine and Phyllis and Bob Davenport, all of Elizabethton; a son, Kenneth Fritts of Elizabethton; a brother, Blaine Fritts of Rogersville; six grandchildren, Teresa Smith, Richard Davenport, Donna Royston, Brian Fritts, Michael Fritts and Kevin Fritts; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services and interment for Mr. Fritts will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, November 25, at Happy Valley Memorial Park with the Rev. Doug Hardin officiating. Military Graveside Honors will be accorded by the VFW Post #2166. Active pallbearers will be Richard Davenport, Brian Fritts, Michael Fritts, Kevin Fritts, Joshua Adkinson and Danny Royston. Honorary pallbearers will be friends and neighbors. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Friends may also call at his residence.
