JOHNSON COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Viola Harper, 11 May 2004 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- Viola Harper, 91, Sims Hill Rd., Elizabethton, died Tuesday, May 11, 2004 at Sycamore Shoals Hospital following a brief illness. A native of Johnson County, she was a daughter of the late Jim and Lola Gentry. She was a member of Valley Forge Christian Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Harper, two brothers and one grand-daughter, Thelma Garland. Survivors include four daughters, Alta Harper, Alice Harper Thrift, Mary Harper Miller, Ruby Harper Miller, all of Elizabethton; one son, Gene Harper, Elizabethton; four grandchildren, Joyce Ann Treadway, Patricia Hensley, Johnny Miller, Jerry Miller, all of Elizabethton; three great-grandchildren, Angela Stout, Erica Hensley and Johnnie Lou Garland, all of Elizabethton; a special step-granddaughter and spouse, Debbie and David Smith, Apex, N.C.; special step- grandson, Josh Taylor, Elizabethton. The funeral service will be conducted at 8 p.m. Thursday, May 13, 2004 at the Riverside Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Mr. H. Clay Bailey, minister, officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home chapel from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Thursday prior to the service, or friends may call at the residence any time. The graveside service and burial will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, May 14, 2004 at Wilson Cemetery, Dewey Community, Mountain City. Active pallbearers will be John Bradley, Glen Little, Russell Hensley, Keith Morrell, Danny Garland, J.B. Treadway, Jerry Miller, Johnny Miller and Tim Taylor. Honorary pallbearers will be friends and neighbors. Those who plan to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 9:55 a.m. on Friday.
