JOHNSON COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Chloe Jewett, 12 May 2004 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- Mrs. Chloe Jewett, 85, passed away at Life Care Center of Elizabethton on Wednesday, May 12, 2004. Mrs. Jewett was born April 30, 1919 to the late Hill and Pearl Wagner Blackburn. In addition to her parents, Chloe was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Frank L. Jewett, who passed away in 1995, her step-son, Vaughn Jewett, a sister, Marie Dugger, a brother, Paul Blackburn, and step-daughter-in-law, Louise Jewett. Mrs. Jewett was a lifelong resident of Johnson County and a member of Midway Baptist Church. She was a wonderful homemaker and partner to her husband in the Dry Hill Community where they owned and operated a farm. She is survived by her son, Frank Jewett and daughter-in-law Linda, grandchildren, Frank Jewett and Lisa Jewett, great-grandson, Matthew Jewett, all of Doylestown, Ohio; step-daughter-in-law, Frances Jewett, grandchildren, Kenneth Jewett, Larry Jewett and Tammy Simerly, great- grandchildren, Matthew Simerly and William Simerly, all of Elizabethton, Tennessee; step-son, Howard Jewett of Elizabethton, Tennessee; step- granddaughter, Jeanette Bailey and her three children of Chicago, Ill.; three brothers, Fred Blackburn and wife Dora of Hampton, Tennessee, Stewart Blackburn and wife Agness of Valley Forge, Tennessee, and Elmer Blackburn of Butler, Tennessee; two sisters, Mary Depew and husband John of Johnson City, Tennessee, and Anna Ruth Morefield and husband Earl of Butler, Tennessee. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be held at 8 p.m. Friday, May 14, from the Hux- Lipford Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Chuck Morefield and the Rev. Don Hazelwood, nephews of Mrs. Jewett, officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 7:45 p.m. Friday, prior to services. Interment will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 15, at Rock Springs Cemetery, Butler, Tennessee. Active pallbearers will be family and friends. Honorary pallbearers are Howard Bradley, Wayne Bradley, Larry Grindstaff, Bob Garland, Earl Morefield and Dennis Blackburn. Family and friends are asked to assemble at Rock Springs Cemetery at 9:45 a.m. Saturday.
