Mink Betty Jane Ramsey Mink, 85, of Mount Dora, Fla., formerly of Hampton, passed away Thursday, January 3, 2008. Betty was born in Old Butler, Tenn., on June 19, 1922. She was a daughter of the late Robert and Hazel Copenhaver Ramsey. Betty was a graduate of the Watauga Academy, Old Butler, and was a member of Community Chapel Baptist Church, Hampton. She resided in Elizabethton for many years before moving to Atlantic City, N.J., in 1960. While in Atlantic City, she worked as head cashier at the Chalfonte Drug Store. It was there she met many celebrities including former President Lyndon B. Johnson, June Carter Cash and Ed McMahan. She returned to Hampton in 1983 and then in 2003 relocated to Mount Dora, Fla. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Russell V. "R.V." Mink, and two brothers, Bobby and Jimmy Ramsey. Betty is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Russell and Christine Mink of Mount Dora, Fla.; two sisters, Virginia Stout of Elizabethton and Mary Ann McNeil of Hampton; three grandchildren, Jeana Swanson of Bridgeport, W.Va., Joe and Jeff Mink of Bristol, Va.; six great-grandchildren, Kayleigh and Karley Swanson, Bridgeport, W.Va., Alex, Ben, Tyler and Hannah Mink of Bristol, Va.; many nieces and nephews; special former neighbors of Hampton; and a special friend, Rosie Smitley of Mount Dora, Fla. Special thanks to the Edgewater Atlantic Unit Staff at Waterman Village in Mount Dora and the Hospice Staff of Lake & Sumter County, Fla. The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Monday, January 7, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with a memorial service to follow with Rev. Stevie Guinn and Brother Jack Lyons officiating. Interment will be at Mountain Home National Cemetery on Tuesday, January 8. Memorial contributions may be made to the Building Fund of First Presbyterian Church of Mount Dora, 222 Sixth Avenue, Mount Dora, FL 32757-5512 or Hospice of Lake & Sumter, 12300 Lane Park Road, Tavares, FL 32778-9600.
