JOHNSON COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Thomas Hill May, 27 Oct 2003 ----¤¤¤---- Thomas H. May NEWPORT, Del. -- Thomas Hill May, 97, formerly of Newport, Del., and Mountain City, Tenn., passed away peacefully on Monday, October 27, 2003. Mr. May owned May's Parts and Service Center in Newport from the late 1940s to the early 1950s. He was also a farmer in Tennessee, Virginia and Kemblesville, Pa. Mr. May was a founding member of Mountain City Senior Center and was active until his late 80's. He was also a member of the Atlantic Aviation Bowlers League. Mr. May was preceded in death by his first wife, of 30 years, Joanna, who died in 1966, and by his second wife, of 32 years, Ruby, who died this year. Survivors include his daughters and sons-in-law, Janet M. and George Johnson, Landenberg, Pa., Phyllis M. and Irv Levin, Claymont, and Suzanne M. and Edward Grandel, Newport; and a son and daughter-in- law, Charles A. and Sheila May, Bear. Nine grandchildren, nine great- grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter and many nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, October 30, in the Chapel of Gracelawn Memorial Park, N. DuPont Highway, New Castle, where visitation will begin at 1:15 p.m. Interment will follow in the adjoining memorial park. The family suggests contributions in Mr. May's memory to Special Olympics Delaware, 619 S. College Avenue, Newark, DE 19716-1901.
