JOHNSON COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Rex Preston McQueen, 16 Mar 2004 ----¤¤¤---- Mr. Rex Preston McQueen, 80, South Watauga Avenue, Elizabethton, died Tuesday, March 16, 2004 in the James H. Quillen V.A. Medical Center following a brief illness. A native of Butler, he was the son of the late Andrew and Rose Hopkins McQueen. He was retired from the V.A. as a nursing assistant and was of the Baptist faith. He was a U.S. Navy veteran. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Howard McQueen and Jack McQueen, and one sister, Doris Gilbert. Survivors include his wife, Marie Pearson McQueen, of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and John Ward, Watauga; a brother, Harold McQueen, Knoxville; a granddaughter, Kimberly Ward, Elizabethton; a great-grandson, Brandon Ward, Watauga, and a great-granddaughter, Alexis Buhro, Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive. The funeral service for Mr. Rex Preston McQueen will be conducted at 7 p.m. Friday, March 19, 2004 in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home with Rev. Douglas Ranshaw officiating. Music will be under the direction of Mrs. Carolyn Estep, organist. Graveside services and burial will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 20, 2004 in the Sugar Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 7 p.m. on Friday. Everyone will meet at the cemetery at 10:50 a.m. on Saturday.
