Morefield BUTLER, Tenn. -- Nell A. Morefield, 85, of 965 Morefield Drive, passed away Thursday, Jan. 9, 2003, at the Watauga Medical Center after an extended illness. Mrs. Morefield was a native of Johnson County, Tenn., and was a daughter of the late Edward and Bessie Corum Winters. She was a member of Rock Springs Church of Christ, enjoyed gardening and flowers, and was preceded in death by her husband, Luke Morefield; one son, James Morefield; one daughter, Diane Guy; two brothers; three sisters; and two grandchildren. Survivors: seven sons and their wives, Earl and Anna Ruth Morefield, Butler, Everette and Louise Morefield, Lebanon, Luke Morefield Jr., Butler, Edd and Helen Morefield, Butler, Harold and Louise Morefield, Mountain City, Tenn., Stacy and Martha Morefield, Butler and Bud and Kathy Morefield, Butler; six daughters and their husbands, Bessie and Boyde Hammons, Mountain City, Mary and Wilbert Townsend, Mountain City, Nancy and Clarence Cannon, Butler, Peggy and Bill Woodard, Mountain City, Jean and Ralph Arnette, Vilas, N.C., and Gracie and Carl Osborne, Butler; 41 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, 2003, at the Hux-Lipford Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Milton Mathers and Mr. Eddy Craft of officiate. Burial will be in the Morefield Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Jim Morefield, Rick Townsend, Buddy Morefield, Billy Joe Woodard, Johnny Morefield, Joel Arnette, Chuck Morefield, Danny Cannon, Billy Guy and Josh Morefield. Honorary pallbearers will be remaining grandsons, great-grandsons, Dr. Floyd Barker, Dr. John Whitlock and Dr. Peter Hiaback. Flowerbearers will be granddaughters and great-granddaughters. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, 2003, at the Hux-Lipford Funeral Home Chapel. Friends may call at the residence, 965 Morefield Drive, Butler, at any time.
