Norris BRISTOL -- Shafer G. Norris, 96, 152 Dawn Drive, Elizabethton, went to be with the Lord, Wednesday January 31, 2007, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital. A native of Johnson County, Tenn., he was a son of the late John W. Norris and Georgia Cornett Norris. Mr. Norris was a retired civil service worker with APG Proving Ground in Aberdeen, Md. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Jean Norris of Fredricksburg, Va.; a brother, Clay Bradley Norris of Pinkney, Mich.; a son-in-law, Travis Circosta; two grandchildren, Donna Chalfant and Douglas Woodard; three great- grandchildren, Dale Chalfant, Matthew Chalfant and Chynna Woodard; and a grandson-in-law, Mike Chalfant. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Graveside services with military honors for Mr. Norris will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, February 2, at Rooty Branch Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Friday at Weaver Funeral Home. Active pallbearers will be Buddy Norris, Randy Norris, Ricky Norris, Luther Deloach, Rusty Verran and Douglas Woodard. Honorary pallbearer will be Dr. Peter Tuberty. The family extends a special thanks to Buddy and Geneva Norris, Randy Norris, Ricky and Denise Norris, Rusty and Debbie Verran, Ashley Verran, Cassidy Norris and Katie Norris.
