JOHNSON COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Klan Butler "Jiggs" Pleasant, 16 Nov 2004 ----¤¤¤---- Klan Butler "Jiggs" Pleasant, 79, 649 Old Highway 67, Butler, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 16, 2004, at James H. Quillen V. A. Hospital. A lifelong resident of the Doeville Community, he was the youngest son of the "O.K." Pleasant family. Jiggs was born May 29, 1925 to the late Roderick Butler and Vena Alice Pierce Pleasant. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Randy Butler Pleasant, two sisters, Ola Kyte and Ova Stalcup, and five brothers, Kyle, King, Karl, Kale and Keys Pleasant. Mr. Pleasant was a member of Little Doe Baptist Church and retired as an electrician from North American Rayon Corporation. He served in the South Pacific in the Navy as a motor machinist and received the Philippine Operation Medal, a Victory Bronze Star, American Theatre Medal and Asiatic- Pacific Medal during World War II. He served with the Johnson County Rescue Squad for 12 years. Survivors include his wife, Faye Robinson Pleasant, of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Diana and Earl Howard Jr., Shady Valley, and Evelyn and Mark Thomas, Meadowview, Va.; four grandchildren, Wayne Thomas and wife Gina, Tuesday Pope and husband Nat, Randy Pleasant Jr. and Joseph Howard; and a sister, Ona Long, Butler. Two sisters-in-law, one brother-in- law and several nieces and nephews also survive. A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 20, at Little Doe Baptist Church with Rev. Kreg Smith and Dr. Willie Malone officiating. Music will be provided by the church choir. Active pallbearers will be Truett Pleasant, Dick Pleasant, David Pleasant and Mike Pleasant. Honorary pallbearers will be his church family, friends and neighbors. Graveside services will follow at Rambo Cemetery with the Johnson County Honor Guard providing military honors. The family will receive friends Saturday from 12 noon until the service hour at the church. Friends may also call at the residence. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Little Doe Baptist Church Benevolent Fund or to the Johnson County Rescue Squad.
