Reece Berniece E. Reece 84, Elizabethton, died Friday, March 17, 2006, in the Johnson City Medical Center. A native of Johnson County, she was the daughter of the late Matthew and Cassie Nave Elliott. She had lived most of her life in Elizabethton. She was a retired employee of North American Rayon Corporation after 40 years of service. Mrs. Reece was a member of the Hunter First Baptist Church and the Willing Workers Sunday School Class. She was preceded in death by her best friend and husband of 56 years of marriage, McDonald Reece, who died Oct. 30, 2002. She enjoyed cross-stitching, gardening and spending time with her family. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Donna and David Asher, Elizabethton; a son, Dwight Reece, Elizabethton; four grandchildren, Kristie Carr, Cindy Carlock, Amy Nave and Adam Asher and his wife, Rachel; four great- grandchildren, Mattie Carr, HannahCarlock , Logan Nave and Natalie Nave; three sisters, Blanche Norris, Mountain City, Genette Hayes, Hertford, North Carolina and Beulah Turbyfill, Elizabethton; three sisters-in-law, Maude Pearce, Mary Kate Estep and Ruby Elliott, all of Elizabethton; her special friends, Carla Reece and Debbie Oliver. Funeral services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Sunday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Eric Eggers and Mr. Rusty Verran officiating. Graveside service and interment will be at 1 p.m. Monday in Happy Valley Memorial Park with Dr. Dennis Deese officiating. Patti Hodge and Sue Bowers will provide the music. Active pallbearers who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 12:30 p.m. Monday will be Adam Asher, Matt Carr, Michael Carlock, Patrick Nave, Mike Nidiffer, Mike Cole, Tim McAmis and Carl Long. The family would like to express a special "Thank You' to the Nursing Staff of the 5400 wing, Johnson City Medical Center and Dr. Jeff Farrow. The family will receive friends from 6- 8 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence.
