Roark Bessie Marie Arnold Roark, 75, of Hampton, went to be with her Lord, Saturday, April 19, 2008, at her residence. A native of Johnson County, she had lived most of her life in Carter County. Mrs. Roark was a retired employee of Texas Instruments and had worked for 30 years at Brown's Super Market. She loved to work in her flowers and her garden. She was a member of Union Baptist Church, but attended the Hampton Church of God. She was preceded in death by her father, Walter Raymond Arnold, and her husband, Norman "Sarge" Roark, April 20, 2001. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Teresa Nidiffer and her husband, John Dunlap, Elizabethton, and Tonya and Henry Weaver, Weaverville, N.C.; her mother, Wilma Ward Arnold, Baltimore, Md.; a grandson, Josey Walter Weaver; a sister, Geraldine Kemp, Baltimore, Md.; a brother, Bobby Mack Arnold, Hampton; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and her special friends, Jane Goodwin Davis, Susan Lamb and Judy Austin. A gathering of family, friends and acquaintances to celebrate the memories of Bessie Roark will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, April 25, at Memorial Funeral Chapel. Memorials may be made in memory of her to the Hampton Church of God. Friends are welcome to come by the residence at their convenience. The family would like to express a special "thank you" to the Johnson City Medical Center Hospice and her friends and neighbors who offered their love and support during her illness.
