JOHNSON COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Rev. James A. Smith, 3 Dec 2004 ----¤¤¤---- The Rev. James A. Smith, age 78, of Georgia Street, Mountain City, passed away on Friday, Dec. 3, 2004, at his home surrounded by his family. A native of Mountain City, James was born on Oct. 13, 1926, to the late William Hayes Smith and Stella Deal Smith. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Hannah Smith, Lelia Smith, and Carrie Lewis. James was a retired Sgt. First Class Army veteran, having served in Vietnam. For his service, he was awarded a Good Conduct Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Bronze Star Medal, and Vietnam Service Medal. He was also retired from IRC in Boone, N.C., and was the pastor of Zion Hill AME Zion Methodist Church. The Rev. James A. Smith, Mountain City; two grandchildren, Julia Smith, and Will Smith, Mountain City; two nieces, Sharon Jackson, and Lillian Easley; two nephews, Steve Smith, and John Easley.
