JOHNSON COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Ova C. Pleasant Stalcup, 29 Apr 2004 ----¤¤¤---- Ova C. Pleasant Stalcup, 85, Lowell Stalcup Rd., Butler, died Thursday, April 29, 2004 in the Sycamore Shoals Hospital. A native of Johnson County, she was a daughter of the late Roderick Butler (Judge) and Vena Pierce Pleasant. She was a member of the Little Doe Baptist Church, Butler. During the early 1930's, Ova gained National recognition as a daughter of the "O.K. Family". She established a career as a full-time housewife. She graciously devoted her time providing a warm home atmosphere for her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Ray Stalcup; one sister and five brothers. Survivors include two sons, Jack Stalcup and Lowell Stalcup and wife, Edna Honeycutt Stalcup, all of Butler; one sister, Ona Pleasant Long, Butler, and one brother, Klan Pleasant, Butler. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 1, 2004 in the Little Doe Baptist Church with the Rev. Alan Koch and Rev. Burl Garland officiating. Burial will follow in Butler Memorial Cemetery. The church choir will provide the music. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the church at 1:50 p.m. Saturday will be Howard Stout, Wallace Stout, David Pleasant, William Lowe, Albert Honeycutt and Truett Pleasant.
