Wallace Daniel Stacy "D.S." Wallace, 85, 300 S. Watauga Avenue, Elizabethton, died Tuesday, October 24, 2006, at his residence. A native of Johnson County, he was a son of the late Daniel S. and Mary Alice Stout Wallace. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Effie N. Wallace, May 4, 2005. Mr. Wallace had lived a number of years in Elizabethton. He was a retired employee of Allied Sheet & Metal, Johnson City, and was also a farmer. He was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Wallace served in the United States Army during World War II. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Sherry Wallace, of the home, and Carl and Iris Wallace of Roan Mountain; a daughter and son-in- law, Rebecca and Brian Harrison of Elizabethton; his stepchildren, Betty Taylor, Pam Pierce and Jeff Pierce, all of Elizabethton, and Pat Winters of Spring City, Tenn.; a sister, Pearl Wallace of Florida; a special sister-in- law, Geneva Scott of Washington; his grandchildren, Michael Harrison, Greg Wallace, Stacey Wallace, Amanda Metros, Katie Wallace, Matt Winters, Jennifer Winters, Amanda Worley, Kacei Pierce, Gary, Kathy, Carol, Shannon and Angie Taylor; and his great-grandchildren, Alexis Wallace, McKenzie Wallace, Natalie Metros, Nevaeh Wallace, Callie and Jacob Worley. Funeral services for Mr. Wallace were conducted at 8 p.m. Wednesday, October 25, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Jim "Butch" Stout officiating. Music was provided by Mack and Edna Presnell. Graveside services and interment will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, October 26, in the Wallace Family Cemetery. Military Honors will be provided by the Captain Lynn H. Folsom VFW Post No. 2166. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, will be Dale Cordell, Greg Wallace, Gary Taylor, Jeff Pierce, James Berry, Allen Frost, John Bulla and Rick Oliver. The family would like to express a special "Thank You" to some special friends: Victor and Judy Deloach, Shane Barger, Kathy Charles, Allen and Brenda Frost, John and Novella Stines, Adventa Hospice employees, Amedisys Housecall Home Health, Brian Harrison, Justin Higgins, Josh Metros, James and Samantha Berry and Carmie Lowe. The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence.
