Beatrice Whaley 





    Beatrice "Granny B" Whaley, 86, 3627 Highway 321, Butler, went home to be 

with the Lord, Thursday, November 29, 2007, from Johnson City Medical Center 

following a brief illness. 





    A native of Johnson County, she was a daughter of the late Clayton and 

Elizabeth Rainbolt Ward. 





    Mrs. Whaley was a member of Little Milligan Baptist Church for 70 years 

where she was active in Women on Mission. She retired from the Carter County 

School System where she worked as an aide on the bus for handicapped students. 





    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, 

Ralph Whaley, November 13, 1988, and a son, James D. "John" Whaley, in 1995. 





    Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Roma and Phillip Waycaster, 

Kingsport; a son and daughter-in-law, Roy and Maxine Whaley, Butler; a 

daughter-in-law, Robin Swinson, Butler; eight grandchildren and five great-

grandchildren; three sisters, Ruby Elliott, Margie Pearson and Judy Mick, all 

of Elizabethton; two brothers, Fredrick Carroll Ward, Elizabethton, and Ed 

Ward, Gulfport, Miss.; and special friends, Bart and Susie Smith, Butler, Judy 

Vines, Elizabethton, and Timothy Clawson, Butler. Several nieces and nephews 

also survive. 





    The funeral service for Mrs. Whaley will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, 

December 2, at Little Milligan Baptist Church with Rev. Nick Bradshaw and Rev. 

Ronnie Campbell officiating. Music will be under the direction of Rev. Ronnie 

Campbell and the Little Milligan Baptist Church Choir. Interment will follow 

in the Butler Memorial Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Bart Smith, J.R. 

Campbell, Chris Ward, Eric Garland, Jeff Smith and Kris Klepper. Honorary 

pallbearers will be friends and family and members of Little Milligan Baptist 

Church. The family received friends in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral 

Home, Elizabethton, from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday. Friends may also call at the 

residence at anytime. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make 

donations to Little Milligan Baptist Church Building Fund, 4223 Highway 321, 

Butler, TN 37640. Condolences may be sent to the family by signing the
