Helton was a lifelong resident of Johnson County and was the son of the late Berdie Lawrence Miller. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his wife's parents, Henry Miller and Georgia and Eugene Morris. Helton was a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason, a member of Taylorsville Masonic Lodge #243 F&AM and a member of Maple Chapter #79 Order of the Eastern Star. He was employed at IRC for 34 years and loved his work. He adored his grandchildren, who were the love of his life. He was a member and trustee of Zionville Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Barbara Miller Wilson; his daughter, Sandra Wilson of Stoney Creek; his son, Wayne Wilson and wife Sherry of Mountain City; a sister, Sue Scott and husband Julius of Zionville; six grandchildren, Christopher Potter, Travis Taylor and Kayla Taylor, all of Stoney Creek, Shane Wilson, April Wilson and Stephanie Matheson, all of Mountain City; a niece, Vicki Parsons and husband Greg; an aunt, Ruth Oliver; sisters-in-law, Rebecca Wagner and husband John, Ollie Phipps and husband Hoover and Dora Love and daughter Carol; several cousins; and his extended family at IRC, who he loved dearly. The family received friends from 6 until 8:45 p.m. Saturday, February 25, at Mountain City Funeral Home, with an Eastern Star Service following at 8:45 p.m. The funeral service was conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, February 26, at Zionville Baptist Church with Pastor Carl Johnson officiating. The graveside service was conducted by Taylorsville Masonic Lodge in the church cemetery. Active pallbearers were Christopher Potter, Shane Wilson, Travis Taylor, Freddie Phipps, Jeff Wagner, Jimmy Phipps, R.D. Oliver, Johnny Lawrence and Frank Lawrence. Honorary pallbearers were Wayne Starns and employees of IRC, George Ashley, Darrell Potter, Mickey Taylor, Tommy Proffitt, Lynn Lawrence, Burl Brown, Glen Wallace, Gene Brown, Jim Boone, Chester Reece, Barton Lawrence, Bruce Wallace, Eugene Shoun, Landon May, James Winebarger, Bill Wallace, members of Taylorsville Masonic Lodge, members of the Adult Men's Sunday School Class of Zionville Baptist Church, the 2002 Grand Family OES and members of Tennessee Grand Chapter.
