It's yellowing, the ink is fading, and it's about to fall apart - but it's still almost all readable. I'm almost afraid to copy it since it is just so fragile. From the Knox Co. Census records and the probate records (dated 1836) for Stephen Renfro, we have determined that the parents of these Renfro children were Stephen Renfro (b. 1790) and Eleanor Christer who were married in Knox Co., TN in 1814. Their daughter , Amanda Mary Renfro (listed in these Bible records), was married to my 2G-grandfather, Curd Cox, in 1849. This Curd was a grandson of OLD Curd Cox, the R. W. soldier who fought at the Battle of Guilford Courthouse, ca. 1780, near present day Greensboro, NC. These Renfro/Rentfro pages were in the old trunk of my g-aunt, Harriet Cox Walker, when she died about 1973. She inherited the old Knox County Cox/Major farm on Stormer Road, near its loop with Beeler - just a few miles off Emory Rd. between the Halls and Gibbs communities. From the records, we found that aunt Harriet bought out my grandfather's share of the farm for $400.00 in 1914 approx. Harriet's older daughter, Viva, took all these old family records when they settled Harriet's affairs, and I just made contact with them in Florida this past year. Note that they changed the spelling from Rentfro to Renfro over that 20 years? One other thing is that someone (who knows when) apparently used a quill pen to darken some of the letters that were fading. The name is actually spelled 3 or 4 different ways in the Knox Co. records. I wasn't sure of the spelling when I started researching, but this document shows even they changed it over the years.
