This file was contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives by: Carol Brown Key CKey558122@aol.com ==================================================================== Deed of Conveyance James F Brown et al to F W Schroeder et all Know all men by these presents that we James F Brown and wife Mary E Brown of Knox County State of Tennessee have sold and do hereby sell grant and convey and confirm unto Frederick Wm Schroeder and John Henry Schroeder of the county and State aforesaid in consideration of the sum of one thousand dollars receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged and the further consideration of the said Frederick Schroeders two promissory notes of even date therewith drawn payable to the Said James F Brown for the sum of six hundred dollars each with interest from the date here of til paid. one of said notes due twelve months after date the other of said notes due two years after date and to better secure prompt payment of said notes when due a lien is hereby retained on the premises hereby conveyed til the said two notes of 600 dollars each be fully paid off and satisfied. The following described premises situated in the state of Tennessee County of Knox and Civil district No 8 to wit. Beginning on a Sweet Gum Third corner of an acre and a half tract of Land deeded by Newton Cowan to John Brown Sept 15, 1832. running thence with the line of the tract of Land owned by the heirs of Hugh L Copeland deceased. to a spanish oak thence south 45 East one hundred poles to a post oak thence south 36 west eighty poles to a stake on the big Survey line where a Post oak formerly stood thence North 45 west to E. Bisop's corner thence with Bisops line to a white oak Bisops Corner thence with Bishops and Ranson Karns line a direct corner to a white oak thence north 78 west along Ransons Karns and John Tillerys lines to a black oak John Tillery corner thence north 47 west 37 poles to a rock formerly "a hog wallow" thence west to a stake in the lot line thence north 45 west to William Conners corner thence east to a chestnut oak John Yorks corner (in the year 1832) thence south 45 East to Black oak R A Harrisons corner thence to a white oak Harrisons line thence with the line of the track of Land owned by the heirs of Hugh L Copeland deceased to the Beginning containing one hundred acres more or less to have and to hold to the said purchasers their heirs and assignees forever and we expressly release all claim under homestead and dower laws and covenant that we have good right to convey said premises that they are free from the public road heretofore deed to Sharon Church for the purpose of a place for worship in which a house has been erected and which parcel of land is hereby excepted out of this conveyance also all loose lumber nails not laid into a fence and boards not nailed in which -----said premises are hereby excepted out of this conveyance and are-------errant with the said purchases that the title to the above described premise to the above named purchasers we will forever warrant and defend with the exceptions aforesaid against the lawful claim of all persons whom ------.
