Brown to Martha J. Beason Stamped ($1.00) This indenture made the 8th day of June 1868 between Joseph M. Brown of the county of Knox and State of Tennessee of the one part and Martha J. Beason of the County and State aforesaid of the other part. Witnesseth that the said Joseph M. Brown for and in consideration of the sum of five hundred and sixty dollars to him in hand paid the receipt whence is hereby acknowledged has bargained and sold and by these presents doth convey and confirm to the said Martha J. Beason her heirs and assignees forever a certain tract of land situated in the County of Knox and State of Tennessee in the 6th district of said county bounded as follows. Beginning on a black oak on r Karns line thence with said line north 45 W 68 poles to Julians corner an a pine, thence with Julians line 65 E 245 poles to a black oak, thence S 15 E with roads old line 125 poles to a conditional line between Thos K Coffman and Thom A. Coffman on or near the Jacksborough road, thence with the conditional line E 13 S 66 poles to a rock, thence W 12 poles to a rock thence E 60 S 65 poles to a post oak on the conditional line on the top of the Ridge thence E 78 W 28 poles to a rock thence S 62 West 109 poles to a black oak on Ramse Karnes line the beginning containing one hundred and seventy acres more less which tract of land together with the hereditaments and appurtenances thereto belonging to the said Joseph M. Brown for himself and his heirs ------- to the said M. J. Brown her heirs and assignees will warrant and forever defend against the lawful claim of all persons whomsoever by these presents as an indefensible ---------- in the simple.
