Adam had moved to Marion Co., TN, sometime between 1850 and 1860. He returned to Knox Co., to sell his farm. Smith to William Hall 11 ¾ (acres) This indenture made this ___ day of 1860 between Adam F. Smith of the county of Knox and state of Tennessee of the one part and William Hall Sr. of the county of Knox and State of Tennessee of the other part witnesseth that the said Adam F. Smith for and in consideration of one hundred and forty six dollars and eighty seven cents to him in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged both bargained and sold and by these presents doth convey and confirm to the said William Hall Sr. his heirs and assigns forever a certain tract or parcel of land situated in the county of Knox and state of Tennessee and bounded as follows. Begining on two Ash saplings one branch running thence North 10 west 42 poles to a rock set in the ground the said William Hall corner Thence along the line of the said Halls North 50 west 65 poles to angels set in the ground The said Adam F. Smith corner on the said Hall line Thence leaving the said Halls line south 19 East 84 poles to a rock set in the ground and corner of the said Adam F. Smith and William Brown Thence along said Browns line South 76 East 30 poles to the beginning containing Eleven and three fourths acres which tract or parcel of land together with the hereditaments and appurtenances thereto belonging the said Adam F. Smith for himself and his heirs & to the said William Hall sr. his heirs and assigns will warrant and forever defend against the lawful claim of all persons whatsoever by these presents as an indefendable inheritance in fee simple in testimony whereof the said Adam F.
