He was born in Ireland in 1895 [sic] and came to America when he was young. He settled in Pennsylvania where he enlisted later in the Pennsylvania militia. After the Revolution he moved to Washington County, North Carolina, now Tennessee, where he was living by 1748. [sic] He married Margaret Griffin and Mary Harbison.
