He was born in Pittsylvania County, Va., Sept. 25, 1757. He moved with his parents when he was an infant to Goochland County. Va. and later moved back to Pittsylvania where he lived until 1796 when he moved to Knox County, Tenn. Alexander Norton testified that he served in the Revolution with Harris Gammon. In 1840 Harris Gammon was living in Knox County with Lewis Gammon. He married _____ Brawner. Among their children were Dozier Brawner Gammon, who married Letitia Turbeville; and Lewis.
