He was born in 1756. His name is on the 1818 list in Knox County. Before 1831 he had moved to Roane County, where he also drew pension. He served in Captain Drury Ragsdale's company, 1st Virginia Artilery. He enlisted July 17, 1777. He applied for a bounty land from Virginia. He married four times. His fourth wife was Polly McNite or McNaught. They were married in Roane County, January 10, 1831, when he was 75 years of age and she 65 years of age.
