He was born in Chatham County, N. C., August 27, 1759. He was living in Montgomery County. N. C., in August, 1776, when he was drafted into service against the Cherokee Indians. He was discharged in October and thereafter he served several tours. He lived in North Carolina four or five years after the Revolution and then moved to Richmond County, Georgia, where he lived for two years. He then moved to Greene County, Tennessee, and thence to Knox County, where he drew pension for several years.
