Hogans KNOXVILLE -- Mrs. Alma G. Hogans, 77, went home to be with her Savior Jesus Christ at her daughter's home in Virginia Beach, Va., Monday, March 10, 2003. She was preceded in death by children, Esther Smith and Julia Crippen. She leaves to mourn her passing: children, Patricia Logan of Virginia Beach, Dr. William (Valdine) R. Hogans, Charles (Jeanette) Hogans, Kenneth Hogans, James (Jackie) Hogans of Knoxville; 32 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; brother, James McDowell of Baltimore; sister-in-law, Florence McDowell; sister, Elizabeth Hagler of Washington, D.C.; sister and brother-in-law, Doris and Joseph Murray of Birmingham, Ala.; sons-in-law, James R. Smith, James Logan and James T. Crippen; daughters-in-law, Carolyn Tate Hogans and Audrey Winton; several nieces and nephews; other relatives; and special friends to include Virginia friends, the Taft (Michael) family and the Hobbs (Paula) family. The family will receive friends 4:30-5 p.m. Saturday at Mt. Mariah FBH Church. Funeral service 5 p.m. with Rev. A.L. Rodgers officiating, assisted by other ministers.
