This is but one of the 4 grandsons who were named for their grandfather; this Curd was the son of Moses Cox & Mary Polly Conner. It's interesting that he mentions James Crippen in the will, as that is another of my lines thru the marriage of Smith Major & Elizabeth Crippen in 1796. Note that Curd names his wife Mary (Renfro) & his son John C. Cox (my g-grandfather) as his executors. His son John C. Cox died in Harrington, Washington in 1901 & is buried in Harrington Cemetery. John's wife Elizabeth Major Cox & most of his family rests at Fairview Baptist Church Cemetery in north Knox County, Tn. Our oral history says John had gone up to Washington State to work on the winter wheat harvest & died in a farming accident when he fell & was run over by one of those old threshing machines. ------------------------------------ January Term 1885 Curd Cox State of Tennessee, Knox County December 5th 1884 I, Curd Cox, do make and publish this as my last will and testament hereby revoking and making void all other wills by me at any time made. 1st.
