Davis March 1, 1918 The Will of Jasper N. Davis I. Jasper N. Davis of the County of Knox and State of Tennessee, being of sound mind and disposing memory, do make and publish this my last will and testament, here by revoking and making void all former wills by me at any time here to fore made and First I direct that all my just debts and funeral expenses be paid as soon after my death as possible of uot [sic] of any moneys that I may die possessed of, or may first come in to the hands of my executor from any source or any portion of my estate real or personal- Second; I direct that all debts owing me at my death be collected as soon as possible. Third I direct that my body be buried in New Gray Cemetery near the bodies of my beloved wife Clara Tucker Davis and my son Albert Davis, and that My grave be marked by a fifty dollar Monument. Fourth After all my debts are paid I give and bequeath to my esteemed and dutiful Sister-in - law Mrs. Willie Tucker Sanderson and her husband Dan B. Sanderson all my Estate real and personal ( Consisting of (1st) one mortgage for Seven hundred ( $700.00) dollars on a house on Campbell Ave in Lonsdale (a suburb of Knoxville Tenn) 2nd One note for Twelve hundred and fifty ($1250.00) dollars on J. G. Davis and his wife Minnie Davis both of Jefferson City Tenn 3rd. About Eleven hundred ($1100.00) dollars in cash now in the East Tennessee National Bank of Knoxville and 4th Any other property either real or personal I may die possessed of . ) to dispose of said property as they (Mrs. [sic] and Mrs. D B Sanderson) deem suitable for their use or benefit. Sighed [sic] and sealed and acKnowledged [sic] and published as the last Will of Jasper N. Davis in our presence as witnesses The testator and Witnesses signed this document in the presence of each other. I do hereby appoint the afore mentioned Dan B. Sanderson as my the executor of this my last Will and testament and do declare that he shall not be required to give security as my executor. Signed sealed and delivered in the presence of Witnesses. Probated in Minute Book No. 2 page 599 [Transcriber's notes: Jasper was a GGGG uncle of mine. He married Clara S. Tucker in Knox County 7 June 1896. Jasper was a son of Albert and Deborah Ann (Cate(s)) Davis of Grainger and Knox Counties. I am a descendant of Jasper's brother, Francis Marion Davis (1849–1882), who is buried with Albert and Deborah at Mt. Harmony Baptist on Raccoon Valley Drive in north Knox County. The J. G. Davis mentioned in the will was a paternal cousin of Jasper's. Joseph G. Davis was a son of Tilford and Martha (Lloyd) Davis of Grainger County who were married 18 March 1858 in Grainger. —Jesse K.
