This file was contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives by: Michele Jacobsen lender@netrox.net ==================================================================== Will of Peter Tharp Sr. State of Tennessee Knox County 14 September 1855 To all whom it may concern, know ye that I, PETER THARP, of the county and State aforesaid and the 5th Civil District of said county, do this day make and publish this my last will and testimony, hereby making null and void all other wills by me at any time made. First of all I will and bequeath to my wife, MARY THARP, the tract of land on which I now live during her natural life for her use and support, and for the use and support of my minor children and at ther decease, I bequeath said farm to my children as follows: To my sons Samuel Tharp, James Tharp, Thomas Tharp, to be equally divided to them, but in case my wife shall die within thirteen years from the date of this, then in that case it is my desire that all my daughters that are now single or may remain single to have the benefit and use of said house and farm until my youngest son arrives at the age of 2l years and no longer, and further I do appoint my wife, Mary Tharp and John Tharp to execute this my last will and testiment in testimony whereof I have hereto set my hand and seal this date and year above written. Signed sealed and acknowledged in presense of: Enoch Branson and John Tharp Union County Court Minutes Monday, 5 May 1856 Where as at the last term of this court, Mary Tharp, came into open court and presented the will of her deceased husband, she having given bond and approved security, therefore ordered by the court that she be sworn in as executrix of said Will and that letters of testimony be passed to the said Mary Tharp and that said Will be admitted to record.
