FILE IN LAUDERDALE COUNTY ARCHIVES SECOND SECTION VOLUME 47 NO.36 FRIDAY JANUARY 21,1927 WILL OMITS SONS; RIPLEY,TENNESSEE JAN.21--The will of MRS.V.B. GLIMP has been probated in County Court here. MRS.GLIMP was an old and well-known resident of this county,living at the old homeplace at Glimp on her farm of 130 acres.She appointed SAM L.BERG of Ripley, as executor, with instructions to sell her real estate and divide the proceeds among six of her children,stating in her will that she had already given to her two children,JIM and OSCAR,all she wanted them to have,and made no provision in the will for them.She gave $2000 in cash to her son,WHEELER GLIMP,as Trustee of her two grandchildren, THELMA and WILLIE MAY SAFALEY,to be paid to them when they reach their majority.Her mules and farming tools went to WHEELER GLIMP, and the balance of her personal property,money and household goods to her daughter, Leanna GLIMP,(married AVERY WEBB) RIPLEY,TENN.JAN.21--The "Long Chain Man" from Nashville has come and gone,and in his wake,has left misery and anguish in the hearts of the loved ones of those he carried away.It has been a long time since a prisoner left Lauderdale County to serve life. The crime for which CURLEY McKINLEY was convicted was revolting.Last April,this negro,who was estranged from his wife,returned to her home and in the presence of their children,shot and killed his wife and daughter. Others from Lauderdale County were negroes; VASSER JOHNSON, three years in agricultural school for boys for forgery; GILL GREEN,three years for robbery; SANDFORD TAYLOR, two years for house-breaking and larceny; ANDREW JOHNSON, one year for larceny.
