Mrs.Harris BROWN,of Jackson,has been a guest of Ripley relatives the past week. Dr.Gaston HARRISON,of Dallas,Texas,arrived Wednesday morning having been called home by the serious illness of his mother,Mrs.Julia HARRISON,who suffered a third stroke of paralysis Monday night.Mrs.HARRISON passed away Wednesday afternoon.Interment was in Grace Cemetery Thursday afternoon,the services being held in Grace Church at 3 p.m.Mrs.HARRISON was 64 years of age and is survived by two sons,Floyd HARRISON,of Central,and Dr.Gaston HARRISON,of Dallas;also one brother,Hon.W.R.MILLER,of Ripley. Mr.R.R.VOSS died at his home last Friday night and was buried at Grace Cemetery Saturday afternoon.He leaves his wife and seven children. --DEATH--The Death Angel visited the home of Mr.& Mrs.HENSON at Pleasant Hill last Friday night,taking one of the most lovable characters in the community.Miss Kittie B. LEVERETTE,Jr. Mrs.W.D.MEADOWS and son,Verne,after a visit to Mrs.J.W.RAINEY,left for their home in Paragould,Ark. Mr.Paul SAVAGE left last Friday night for Chicago,to attend the Radio Manufactures Association in session there all this week. --DEATH--In an automobile accident one mile south of Henning Wednesday about 10 o’clock,Mr.Walter LACEY was so badly injured that he died enroute to Memphis.Mr.Will GARRETT was with Mr.LACEY and was the driver of the Star car which ran off the Jeff Davis Highway.Mr.GARRETT was arrested and brought to Ripley,charged with driving a car while intoxicated,and when the trial came up before Justice T.H.GREEN in the afternoon,asked for a postponement until June 14th,which was granted and his bond was place at $500.00.Both LACEY and GARRETT formerly resided at Edith in this county,before moving to Memphis.LACEY is survived by a wife and two children. --CENTRAL--J.O.COX and family spent Saturday night and Sunday with J.R.COX and family near Humboldt. --ASBURY--Mrs.N.J.HENDERSON spent Thursday in Ripley in the home of Mrs.Emma KLUTTS. Mr.& Mrs.Milton RAMAGE,of Jackson,attended the funeral of little Roy JACOB,Jr.,in Ripley,burial in Maplewood Cemetery,last Friday. --DEATH--Mr.John P.GAUSE died suddenly Tuesday morning at his home in Mercedes,Texas.He was a native of Lauderdale County,a son of Mr.& Mrs.T.G.GAUSE,deceased.He resided and practiced law here until 20 years ago.The remains were laid to rest in Mercedes,Texas. --ASBURY--Mrs.Tom KLUTTS and little son,Tommy,of Ripley, were guests of the G.W. BILLINGS’,Monday. --GOLDDUST--Miss Brooksie METER is on the sick list. Mr.Robert METER has returned home after two weeks stay at Edith. --NANKIPOO--Twin sons were born Wednesday to Mr.& Mrs.Robert ETHERIDGE.One weighed 3 1/2 pounds and the other one weighed 7 pounds.They have been named Eli and Levi. --FLIPPEN--Mr.DeWitt KELLEY,33,farmer,who resided near Flippen,while riding a mule from the field to his noon lunch Monday,was thrown and became entangled in the gear and was dragged nearly a mile.He died a few hours later.He was unmarried and was living with his mother,Mrs.Joe F.KELLEY.He leaves two sisters and three brothers.He was working for Oscar LANGLEY.The remains were laid to rest in Grace Cemetery Tuesday. --MARY’S CHAPEL--Little Margaret KLUTTS was on the sick list several days last week. ================================================================ ================================================================ LAUDERDALE COUNTY ENTERPRISE RIPLEY,TENNESSEE JUNE 21,1929 ================================================================ --LOCAL & PERSONAL--Mr.Robert KLUTTS and wife,of Cleveland,Miss.,are visiting relatives here. Mayor T.H.GREEN and son.Adolphus and Mr.& Mrs.Ophal GREEN attended the funeral of Mr.N.E.McDEARMAN in Halls Monday. --HENNING--Mr.& Mrs.W.C.HAYNES were called to Ridgely Monday by the death of Mr.H.C.HAYNES,father of W.C.,which occurred at the Baptist Hospital in Memphis Monday morning,where he had been a patient for the past ten days. --BALD KNOB--Mr.& Mrs.Floyd HERRON,of the Bluff,were Sunday guests of Mr.& Mrs.George WEAVER. --DEATH--On the 12th day of June,the Death Angel visited in our home and took away our darling husband and father,I.W.HAYNES.He was born December 3rd,1869.He leaves to mourn his departure,his wife and eight children,five girls and three boys.Burial in Enon Cemetery. --GATES--A daughter was born June 27th to Mr.& Mrs.A.B.GREEN.She has been named Betty Lee. --GOLDDUST--Mr.C.M.METER made a business trip to Ripley Thursday. Misses Brooksie and Earline METER were in Luxora,Ark.,Saturday. ================================================================ ================================================================ LAUDERDALE COUNTY ENTERPRISE RIPLEY,TENNESSEE JULY 12,1929 ================================================================ --ADDITIONAL LOCALS--A baby girl,only two or three days old,was found in a briar thicket about one and one half miles east of Ripley last Friday morning by some persons picking blackberries.The child was wrapped in an old gunny sack,without any clothing on it,and bran was all over the little body.No medical attention had been given its advent into the world,and it was just like it came.It was a normal child and weighed about 8 i/2 pounds,and was cared for by the finders until Saturday when it was brought to the home of Mr.Beryl GLIMP in Ripley,where she died Monday,and the remains were laid to rest in the cemetery at the county farm.It is to be hoped that the guilty persons will be apprehended,and made to pay the penalty of such a diabolical crime. --DEATH--Mr.Russell KOONCE,who was carried to Memphis Wednesday of last week for an operation for appendicitis,died at an early hour Monday morning,and the remains were brought here and later carried to Enon Cemetery near Nankipoo for interment.He was 27 years of age and had been married seven years.He and his wife were married through their college years,both were teachers. --JUDGE GREEN’S COURT--Robert METER,unregistered auto; $9.00. --GATES--Mr.& Mrs.A.M.SAVAGE and son,A.M.Jr.,of Memphis,were guests of parents,Mr.& Mrs. M.W.SAVAGE on the 4th.A.M.Jr.,remained for the rest of the summer. --HENNING--Mr.Jim ADAMS,of Halls,whose death occurred at Methodist Hospital,Memphis,on Wednesday of last week,was buried at Poplar Grove Cemetery Thursday afternoon.Besides his widow and one daughter,he leaves his father, C.C.ADAMS; two sisters, Mrs.Tom CHEAIRS,of Memphis and Mrs.S.L.THUM,of this place. --MASCEDONIA--Mr.Charles COX and children,of Craig,spent Sunday here. BLACK in Hichman,Ky.,occasioned muach sadness.She had lived two years previously with her daughter,Mrs.J.D.McLEOD in Ripley.The remains were brought to Ripley ,arriving here about 2:15 p.m. and from here carried to Holmes graveyard near Durhamville and laid to rest by her beloved husband,George A.MOORE,who passed away 28 years ago.She was born 24th November 1848,in Ky.,the daughter of Henry & Mary POTTER. --MARY’S CHAPEL--Mr.John E.CRAIG and family of Ripley,were in the H.J.MANESS home Sunday afternoon. Mrs.James KLUTTS and daughter,spent Thursday of last week with Mrs.Charles CRAIG in Ripley. Twelve children were born to C.S.O. and Lucie RICE in the home they established sixty-four years ago.On July 22nd,1929,after the celebration of her 84th birthday,she was buried in St.Paul Cemetery. --HENNING--Mr.C.D. MARTINhad been a Memphis resident for 27 years.He leaves his parents; five brothers, H.W.,T.H.,A.M.,G.B.,and R.M.MARTIN,all of Memphis and one sister,Mrs.T.S.McFERRIN,also of Memphis. --DEATH--Mr.B.S.MORRIS died at his home on Ashport Street,September 12th,1929.He was born in Darlington,S.C. on November 23rd,1857.He was a son of Lieut.J.M.& Rebecca MORRIS.He lost his father early in the Civil War,and whose remains were laid to rest in the Confederate Cemetery in Richmond,VA.After his father’s death,his mother moved to Lauderdale County,Tenn.;where her father,S.D.JENKINS was residing.Mr.MORRIS was married to Miss Sarah E.WEBB on DEcember 4th,1879.To this union were born nine children,five of whom preceded him in death.He leaves his wife,three daughters and one son;Mrs.C.T.AUSTIN,Mrs.J.B.HUNTER and J.S.MORRIS,all of Ripley and Mrs.H.C.D.MORRIS,of Timmonsville,S.C. Mrs.Lester BURKS of Memphis,spent Saturday night with her parents,Mr.& Mrs.A.J.HUTCHERSON and was accompanied home by her mother and brother Hannah,who were going doen for a treatment at a hospital. --CURVE--The funeral of R.J.SUTTON,who died Monday in a Memphis Hospital,was held in the Christian Church here Tuesday afternoon.He was 56 years of age and is survived by his widow and the following children;Mrs.Russell ROSE, and Mr.Edwin SUTTON,both of Ripley, Harry SUTTON,of Nashville, Misses Eddie Mae SUTTON and Juanita SUTTON.The remaions were laid to rest in Maplewood Cemetery. ================================================================ ================================================================ LAUDERDALE COUNTY ENTERPRISE RIPLEY,TENNESSEE SEPTEMBER 27,1929 ================================================================ --KILLED--The news of the sad accident causing the death of Thomas ADDISON,68 years,a well known sawmill man,at 8 a.m.this morning.He was engaged in his daily duties at his sawmill on Cane Creek in Lauderdale Couty,near Pilljerk,when he was struck by a plank from the saw.This threw him against the drive wheel and his skull was crushed.Death was instantaneous.He is survived by his wife,Fannie ADDISON; sons,Artie and W.T.ADDISON; daughters. Six children survive:J.E.PIERSON, Mrs.Sanford DRAKE and Mrs.B.C.DURHAM Jr.,all of Ripley, Mrs.Lucy P.EWING and J.B.PIERSON,both of Memphis,and Mrs.Fay TUCKER,of New York City. --LOCAL AND PERSONAL--A son was born November 29th to the J.A.McMAHANS.He was christened Milton Fredrick McMAHAN. Frances Louise CROWDER,age 13 months,daughter of Mr.& Mrs.Monroe CROWDER died Tuesday night of spinal miningitis,following two weeks illness with the flu.The remains were laid to rest in Mary’s Chapel Cemetery Wednesday afternoon. Mrs.H.F. ROSS died at her home near Ripley Tuesday of apoplexy.The remains were carried to Newbern for interment.Mrs ROSS had lived near Ripley several years,her husband having charge of the singal service on the I.C.Railroad before moving to his farm near Ripley She was in her 55th year. --LUCKETT--Misses Margaret and Emily NELSON and Mr.William NELSON spent Saturday night with their sister,Mrs.Dee YOCKUM,of Golddust. ================================================================ ================================================================ LAUDERDALE COUNTY ENTERPRISE RIPLEY,TENNESSEE DECEMBER 20,1929 ================================================================ --SON KILLED FATHER--Early Tuesday night,Odell ARNOLD shot and killed his father,Harden ARNOLD,at the farm home near Millington.Young ARNOLD was arrested and placed in the Shelby County jail.While admitting that he and his father quarreled,yet he claims the killing was accidental.ARNOLD is survived by his wife and eight children.They formerly lived near Ripley,having moved to Millington two years ago.The remains of the deceased were buried Wednesday in Henning. --CENTRAL--Mrs.James COX and family and Mr.& Mrs.James Cox,Jr.,of Memphis,visited relatives here Sunday. ================================================================ ================================================================ ================================================================ LAUDERDALE COUNTY ENTERPRISE RIPLEY,TENNESSEE DECEMBER 27,1929 ================================================================ --IN LOVING MEMORY--In sad and loving memory of our dear mother and grandmother “Aunt Jane” WALDING,who departed this life November 23rd,1929.She would have been 84 years of age,December 27th.She was married to J.A.
