HAROLD MEIER,prosecutoe for Fremont Co.,in Lander,Wyo.,said KIRKPATRICK wanted to "shoot it out" with a man named DALE THOMPSON at the inn. "There had been some drinking," the prosecutor said. "I don't believe the two men knew each other before." The inn owner,ROBERT LLOYD,and his son also fought with KIRKPATRICK, MEIER said.He said KIRKPATRICK was charged on two other counts of aggravated assault and battery "for striking them with the butt of a pistol."
