Grove Presbyterian Church.She was the widow of WILLIAM HARVEY WILSON. Survivors
include a son,HARVEY WILSON,of Covington; a daughter,ANITA HAZELRIG; and her
brother, JERRY LEE,of Memphis; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

NIX,76--of Covington-father of TAYLOR NIX,JR.-of Ripley,died Monday of heart
failure in Bartlett.Services were at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Maley-Yarbrough
Funeral Home,Bartlett,with burial in Townsend Cemetery in Tipton County.A
retired farmer,he had owned a night club.An Army veteran,he was a member of Solo
Church of Christ.He was the widower of VERA SALES NIX. Survivors include two
other sons,JOHN L.NIX,of Covington and JEFF O.NIX,of Bartlett; two
daughters,PHYLLIS McINTOSH,of Covington and ELAINE NIX,of Camden; a brother,
THURSTON P.NIX,of Arlington; 14 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren.

-of 132 Sanford,Ripley,retired highway department worker,died Thursday of last
week,at home,of heart failure.Services were at 2 p.m.Saturday in First Baptist
Church,of which he was a member,burial in Memorial Gardens. He leaves his
wife,MILDRED; a son,JERRY SELLERS; two daughters,JO ANN NELSON and NADINE
CANNON,all of Ripley; four grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

STEELMAN,93--of Halls,retired farmer,died March 21st in his home.Graveside
services were at 2 p.m.March 23rd at Ripley Memorial Gardens,Garner Funeral Home
in charge.A memorial service was at 4 p.m.in Melville Methodist Church of which
he was a member.He was born in Halls July 18,1904 to ABNER STEELMAN and ELLA
SUMROW. The widower of FRANCES WILEY STEELMAN,he leaves a daughter,ANELLA
McFEE,of LaFayette,Ind.;three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Ripley,died March 18th in Baptist Hospital,Memphis.Services were at 4 p.m.March
20th in Dry Hill Church of God,of which he was a member,with burial in church
cemetery.Halls Funeral Home in charge.He was an auto mechanic.He was born in
Ripley August 24,1932 to OSCAR T.HENSON and ROSA MARIE JACKSON. He leaves his
wife,LENIA ROSE HARRELL HENSON; a son,STANLEY WAYNE HENSON,of Ripley; a
daughter, MITZI PAULETTE KNOLTON,of Memphis; three step-daughters,BETH FINCHER

CURRIE-of Ripley,died of heart failure March 25th in Vencor
Hospital,Syamore,Illinois.Services were set for 11 a.m.March 29th in Wallace
Broadview Funeral Home in Broadview,Illinois with burial in Oaks Cemetery in
Chicago.Currie Funeral Home in charge. He leaves his father,WILLIE MAZIQUE,and

Madison County Hospital.Services were at 11 a.m.Wednesday in Brownsville Funeral
Home,with burial in Trinity Cemetery at Nut Bush.He was a member of Alderegate
United Methodist Church,and was a retired Methodist minister. He leaves three

in Friendship,September 18,1918 to ED ELLIS and ELIZABETH HEATH.He was retired

veteran,he was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and the Ed worsham

Lightfoot-Luckett Road,Ripley,was dead on arrival at Baptist Hospital-
Lauderdale,early Sunday morning.When he did not come home late Saturday,his
family suspected something was wrong.His truck was found empty near Ashport
stuck in a washout,tracks lead to Mounds Sunk Lake Road.Searchers found his body
outside a shed at the old Mills abandoned farm house north of his
truck.Authorities report that it was 34 degrees with a wind chill factor of 20
degrees and MR.DANIELS had walked more than three miles without a jacket.His
cane was found with him.The sheriff's department reported that weather was a big
factor in his death.Services were at 4 p.m.Tuesday in Yarbrough Funeral
Home,with burial in Mt.Pleasant Cemetery. He was born October 18,1928 in
Lauderdale County to GEORGE DANIELS and ROSIE SYNDER.He was a retired farmer.He

the late FANNIE ABLES and the Rev.MACK NEAL JOHNSTON. After she and her husband
moved to Jackson,she taught in Alexander Elementary School.He died Sept.27,1995.

Mountain View Cemetery.Born at Gates September 3,1910 to the late C.S.and VIOLA
GREEN WHITAKER,he was graduated from Memphis State University in 1934,internin
Green Hotel in San Antonio,Texas where he met and married GERTRUDE GREEN,a nurse
from Sioux City,Iowa.She died in 1962.He leaves his wife,LEOLA JENKINS
WHITAKER,whom he married in 1987; three daughters,CHARLOTTE WHITAKER, LYN
CONLEY, and SHIRLEY RICHEY; two brothers,CARL WHITAKER and FRED WHITAKER.
