Being same tract of land conveyed to James E.GILLESPIE by deed of Henry T.PITTS of record in Deed Book W pg 175-6 of the Register's ogffice of Lauderdale County,Tennessee,and set aside to Laura GILLESPIE,noe Laurs J.PARRISH,in the case of Gillespie vs Gaines,County Court of Lauderdale County,Tennessee {1896},Minute Book S,pages 180 et seq.,to which reference is here made. Also,a roadway conveyed to vendors herein by deed of V.T. LIGHTFOOT et al of record in said register's office in Deed Book D-3,pgs 512-13 of the Register's office of Lauderdale County,Tennessee, to which reference is here made and is described as follows; BEGINNING at an iron stake in the Ripley and Lightfoot road;runs thence 20 feet to a stake;thence north our tract of land to a stake in the south boundary of the W.A.PARRISH land,said line north being parallel with the northwest corner of the J.B.GRIGGS land sold to him by W.W.CRAIG,said corner of J.B.GRIGGS land being an iron stake which stands sixteen feet west of a persimmon;thence east 20 feet to J.B.GRIGGS northwest corner;thence south with GRIGGSand our dividing line to the beginning point,containing one-fourth of an acre,more or less. TO HAVE AND TO HOLD the abovedescribed tract or parcel of land together with all and singular the tenements,hereditaments improvements and appurtenances thereunto belonging unto the said G.L.FITZGERALD and wife Mattie FITZGERALD,as tenants by the entirety their heirs and assigns forever in fee simole. We COVENANT THAT WE are lawfully seized and possessed of the same and that the same is unencumbered except as hereinafter shown and that we will warrant and forever defend the title to the said real estate unto the said vendees,their heirs and assigns against the lawful claims of all persons whomsoever. POSSESSION is to be given the vendees January 1,1937,but T.T.HODGE,tenant,has a verbal contract with the vendors herein for 1937 on a rental of 1/3 of the corn and 1/4 of the cotton and vendees know of this contract and are to carry it out with T.T.HODGE and all rents are to be paid the vendees herein. THE CONSIDERATION of this conveyance is $3,000 of which amount $2,000 is cash in hand paid to us,the receipt of which we hereby scknowledge and the balance of $1,000 is represented by two notes of even date herewith each due December 1,1937 and December 1,1938 respectively,payable to the order of vendors herein,said notes bear 6% interest from Dec.30,1936. OUT OF THE PROCEEDS of said sale the trustee will pay all the costs of this deed of trust,including compensation of the trustee in the amount of 5% of the total proceeds of said sale and an attorneys fee of 10% if an attorney is employed the said indebtedness or any part thereof with or without a suit,and thenthe said trustee will pay all sums expended under the terms of this trust such as taxes etc.,and then pay the indentedness hereby secured and the balance if any he will pay over to our order. WE AGREE; 1. To keep all taxes on the said property paid up to due. 2. To keep the improvements on the said property in good repair and insured in some reliable insurance company against loss of fire and windstrom with the loss payable to the holder of the said indebtedness as his interest may appear. 3. LAUDERDALE COUNTY ENTERPRISE RIPLEY,TENNESSEE JULY 12,1929 ADDITIONAL LOCALS--A baby girl,only two or three days old,was found in a briar thicket about one and one half miles east of Ripley last Friday morning by some persons picking blackberries.The child was wrapped in an old gunny sack,without any clothing on it,and bran was all over the little body.No medical attention had been given its advent into the world,and it was just like it came.It was a normal child and weighed about 8 i/2 pounds,and was cared for by the finders until Saturday when it was brought to the home of Mr.Beryl GLIMP in Ripley,where she died Monday,and the remains were laid to rest in the cemetery at the county farm.It is to be hoped that the guilty persons will be apprehended,and made to pay the penalty of such a diabolical crime. Twelve children were born to C.S.O. and Lucie RICE in the home they established sixty-four years ago.On July 22nd,1929,after the celebration of her 84th birthday,she was buried in St.Paul Cemetery. ENTERPRISE FRIDAY MARCH 29,1907 DESPERATE FIGHT BETWEEN NEGROES--A desperate fight was pulled off in the First District Monday afternoon between AB GAUSE & WALTER BOND,both negroes.As a result BOND received three rifle shot wounds in his body and is seriously hurt.The difficulty arose over a negro boy. ENTERPRISE FRIDAY MARCH 29,1907 THE DEATH OF MR.W.H.LARIMORE-- which occurred at his home in Ripley last Friday morning has brought a bitter cup of sorrow to the lips of friends and relatives.He was taken ill on March 3rd at Carbondale,Ill.,where he had been employed for the past year in a mercantile establishment,and his illness from the first was so foreboding that he was brought home on the night of the 7th,where the tender care of a mother,sisters and loved ones could be bestowed upon him.He was 35 years of age.Funeral services were held in the home,burial in the Old Cemetery. ENTERPRISE FRIDAY MARCH 29,1907 BEATEN BY TWO NEGROES--Early Saturday morning,OSCAR AMMONS,a highly respected white man of the 3rd District,met two negroes,JOHN WALKER and son,BOB WALKER in the road near Henning and became involved,it is alleged,in a difficulty over a hog.While no knives or pistols were brought into play,yet the three fought,it is said,until they were almost exhausted.AMMONS was knocked down and severely beaten,and it is thought that his wounds may prove fatal.The negroes were not dangerously hurt.WALKER and his boy was arrested by Constable IRA A.BARFIELD,and given a prelimenery hearing before JUSTICE H.B.MOORER,of Henning.They were placed in jail.AMMONS has a wife and three children.
