Hughes rnrh@bellsouth.net September 29, 2005, 2:43 pm Lawrence Democrat: May 23, 1917 Mrs. Mary Jane McGee died May 11, at the home of her son, Joe McGee, in the sixth district at the ripe old age of 81 years, 4 months and 13 days. Mrs. McGee was sick les than a hour with an attck of acute indigestion. She was buried at the Clayton Graveyard with services by Bro. Jerry Crews. She was born in Lawrence County, and was a daughter ofThos. Crews, who came here from Virginia in the early settlement of the county. Dan McGee, her husband, who was a federal soldier was killed during the Civil War in West Tennessee. Two sons survive, Joe McGee, of the sixth district with whom she lived and Thos McGee who lives in Texas. She was a good Christian woman, whose long life was spent in service to her Master.
