Marriage Bond
The Governor
Given 18th June 1837
Know all men by these presents that we Peter Bishop and Joseph Brashers all of 
the County of Lawrence & State of Tennessee are held firmly Bound unto the 
Governor of said State in the sum of $1250 for the payment of Which we bind our 
seles our heres &c Jointly severally firmly by these presents sealed with our 
seales and dated the 18th day of June 1837  The conditions of the above 
obligation is such that whereas the above bound Joseph Bishop has prayed and 
obtained a license to marry Nancy Brashers  Now if the said Nancy Brashers be 
an actual Resident of the aforesaid County & this shall not appear a lawful 
Cause why the said Joseph Bishop and Nancy Brashers should not be Joined 
together in the Holy State of Matrimony then the above Void elce in full force 
and Virtue.
