McMILLEN, MILLARD, ROSBOROUGH R. D. McMILLEN is a son of Joseph McMILLEN, who was of Irish origin, born near Knoxville, Tenn. in 1784. He was a tailor by trade, and died in 1859. Our subject's mother was of Scotch descent, born in Kentucky in 1787 and died in 1863. Our subject was born in Fayetteville August 17, 1822, and being the youngest of twelve children, was left to look after the old home place and care for his parents. He owns 267 acres of valuable land near Petersburg, and has been a successful business man. In 1858 he married M. J. MILLARD, daughter of William and Mary MILLARD. She was born in Lincoln County in 1833 and died in 1878, having borne seven children, six of whom are living: Margaret F. (deceased), Effie (Mrs. C. ROSBOROUGH), William J., Sarah, Thomas, Minnie and Lucinda. They have received good educational advantages, and have made the most of their opportunities. Mr. McMILLEN is a conservative Democrat, but was formerly a supporter of the Whig party, and is a man well versed on all the questions of the day. He belongs to the Masonic fraternity.
