Postings to To: "Lincoln County, TN Family discussion list" (Please note that this list is defunct and replaced by: TNLINCOL-L@rootsweb.com) January 1997 (108 postings) From: “George Waller” Subject: 1820 census Date: Wed, 1 Jan 1997 01:22:47 -0500 Hi, Thanks for the offer. I would rather wait until it is up on the web and then start adding more to it. Otherwise, it will get delayed. (And I'm quite slow as it is :-))) Once it is up on the web, I will announce it and then ask for everyone to help add to it. George p.s. and a Happy New Year to you too. We just celebrated a quiet midnight about an hour ago with a couple of friends and our kids. I contacted her when I returned home about updating my LCT Pioneers, which I had let drop in 1986. Then my husband had another heart attack in April, and his health started detiorating even more, so I never got around to ordering them. I have the notes I made at home about what she said was still available. I am in Springfield, Missouri, right now--will be going home to Tulsa on Saturday. When I locate that note, can I still order the back issues I need, and if so from whom, you, her, or someone else. Subsequently my husband passed away on October 30th, so I've been in kind of a fog since then. It mentions Emeline, dau of George and Ann Dennis, wife of Isaac Porter. My mother is always pleased to find another who cares about something that is very dear to her heart-- the study of and the preservation of the memory of our Lincoln Co TN ancestors. And... *she* is the pioneer of that territory! George ------- Forwarded Message Follows ------- From: "Mary Koonce" To: Date: Wed, 1 Jan 1997 19:19:12 PST8PDT Subject: Re: Lincoln Co TN Pioneers George, Please send your mother wishes for a speedy recovery. She has done so much for the geneology of Lincoln Co. Tn. If not for her work on the "Pioneer" and the other dedicated volenteers we might have spent years looking for our Koonce line. We have been members of the "Lincoln County Genelogical Society for a number of years and often encourage anyone doing serious geneological research in that area to join. That $20.00 per year has saved me hundreds of hours and dollars. Not only because of the "Pioneer" but by sharing my name with others doing similar research. I have several copies of the "Pioneer" and would be glad to do look ups as time permits to fill the gap for Mrs. Waller in her illness. I do not have a data base of surnames but will do my best with what I do have. I would asked that members be sure to do the following. Please mark your E-Mails plainly as LCT LOOKUP....in the title line and send them directly to mmkoonc@molalla.net please remember that I will need to do them in my spare time and that I do not have every issue. Also please remember I am in Oregon and not Tennessee..... Replys also maybe slow as it is RAINING here and the power is questionable from minute to minute. But if I can help I am willing to try. If you think this will help you can post the message to the list. They had to have married sometime between 1845 and 1852. Had a son Issac Henry Arnold 11/51 in nw alabama. The family shows up in oregon county, missouri census in 1860...later census vary from where the arnolds and dubois came from either alabama or tenn, we beleive it may be a border county. In 1910 oreon county census, a capt. Thomas P.Arnold and family shows up. a missouriGen searcher found that he entered civil war from winchester tenn, in 1861 in company h, 1st turney infantry formed in lincoln, tenn. His family was listed in 1850 census, his dad Moses born in ga or va about 1800 and his wife sarah born in nc or ga, and other bros and sisters....at the the time Thomas P. was 16 in 1850 census. We think there may be some relationship has they moved so close to the other arnolds in missouri, even to the same township. We think maybe Moses and William arnold may be brothers. I am tracking the william arnold's...we found three in the 1850 census in jackson county alabama...based on the location we feel these families must be related.Any conection you can find with either arnold families or dubois please let me know. This search has started because of three closely related cases of Lou Gehrigs disease in g-g-grandsons of william arnold...you may not know this, but only 10% of lou gehrigs patients have the inherited type, and drug research is closing in a possible cure. My brother has this disease, and i am trying to do all i can to help. Please do what you can to help me or steer me in the right direction. thanks. tomarnold -- End of message -- From: "W. F. Elizabeth's parent were J.B. Whitworth and an unknown Choctaw woman. I don't know the names of James B. Phillips parents. I find myself spending more time on Phillips and Whitworth more than anything. Do you have any matches? My ggg-grandmother was Nancy Jennie, she married Willis D. Cole. He was from AL. Any matches? Do you have dates etc for Ode's father John Hunter and wife Jennie Spray and the rest of the Hunters? I'd also be interested in Ode's family sheet, since they are all Phillips descendants. 3. Do you have the family sheet on Willis D.'s other son Willis Henry Cole by second wife Martha Stephens Hunt Cole Beard, who married Susie Tucker? 4. Do you have a picture of Jenny Phillips Cole Towry? I have one I need to verify. 5. Where do your Walkers fit in? I am also a Walker descendant. I have only a little on your other names. I have data on these families: Cornelius Wesley McGuire, who married Sarah MELONEY, and had many children, among them: Sarah Lucinda McGuire who married in 1845 James C. Butler, son of Benjamin Butler SR and Rachel Childers. My line from James C and Sarah L is Calvin Arthur Butler who married Martha Caledonia Rowe of Giles CO and went to Oklahoma...I My one goal before I die is to discover what happened to James C and Sarah L Butler...Sarah died between 1860 and 1874 (James was named admin of her estate in 1874 and again in 1875) but I cannot locate James in Lincoln or Giles CO TN in 1870...I believe that his son CORNELIUS BUTLER married MARY BUTLER in Tippah Co MS in 1867 but cannot account for their James C's youngest daughter SARAH...also do not know if James C and Sarah L had other children between 1860 and 1874... Anyone wit info on any of this please contact me...will share all I have... At a sale after Ezekiel died in 1828, William bought the family Bible for 25 cents.
