My Markham's appeared in Lincoln County, Tennesse at probably about the same time as your Sullivans. One of my ancestors was Guy "General" Sullivan Markham. He passed his name to one of his children, Guy Sullivan Markham, Jr. I would like to learn about the Sullivan connection. It may be through the Shepherd line. I believe (but can't put my finger on the source right now, which is unusual for me) that Pendleton was the oldest child of Perry and Martha and the 1850 census for Madison Co. AL shows the other children with ages. Elizabeth was 39 in 1850 so born cir. 1811, so Pendleton was born before that. The Bible record shows the exact date of Pendleton's death. Plan to be in Nashville in July, and plan a side trip to Monroe Co. to see an 80 yr. old "cousin" who has provided me with much on my father's line, but probably won't make it to Chattanooga. I do not know Mr. Moore, but would love to make contact. Please tell me how! I do not have any descendants of Younger T. Flynt. Did he and Parlee Willis have children? Also, I do not have any descendants of Perry's children other than Pendleton. Do you have anything on Elizabeth Thomerson Flynt, Amasa Flynt, or Julia Flynt? The above info that I sent last nite or eary this a.m. was copied from family charts. William BEAVERS father of Sallie Beavers (that married Preston HAMPTON) and of William that married Margaret Floyd. Their daughter Sarah "Sallie" Beavers married James C. McClellan. I originally thought she was my gggmother. She is from a different family of Beavers, and to date I have not connected the two Hampton families. Info I have is:William Jr. BEAVERS, (father-in-law of James McClellan) died July 1882 and his will was filed in Lincoln Co. TN His age was given as 59 in 1850 census. He died in 1791in Rockingham Co., NC (they moved there with the McClellans about 1783). His wife was Abigail and their children were: Abigail Rebecca Mary (married William McClellan) Elizabeth (Hutchison) Amy (James) Sarah (Hampton) Sallie? Hannah (married Robert McClellan) William Beavers* *William married Mary (last name unknown to me). Their son was: William Beavers who married Margaret Floyd. They had a daughter, Sallie M. who married James Cowan McClellan. They moved to Texas in 1854. In my records I show a William S. Beavers whose wife was named Josie and had the following children: Polly, Rufus N., David, Betsy, Jane (Hedgepath), Asirah, Sallie (McClellan), and Priscilla (Wood). This was from the 1888 will of William Beavers. I believe this is the William Beavers who married Margaret Floyd. This is just all now starting to come together- any other help would be appreciated. I don't know who William Beaver I's father was. I have always assume they came to Virginia from either Pennsylvania or New Jersey with the McClellans. There is a possibility that the McClellans (and probably the Beavers) lived for awhile outside of Philadelphia and then in Adams County, PA (near Gettysburg). A family tradition says that Robert McClellan was born in New Jersey and moved to Pittsburg, PA before his family moved to Virginia. No data to support either; and just like the Beavers every damned one of the is named WILLIAM! Because of the numerious Surnames, and the areas of interest from the LCT people, I have kept it all together, hoping that someone else may have luck tieing in their names. Hi....you made my day kiddo! First time to view Brunswick Co., VA site on VAgenweb ...then saw your query on Austin family...That's me...Been working on this line for years! I am in Austin, TX (previously retnd from IL). I descend from John Austin, Sr. b. c. 1690 ENG? some said..but one fellow, John Scott said he thought this family from Scotland as the Terry family in VA seem to be closely related. True. However, when I saw your Pinson name and the Austin name I knew you were connected to my lines. I didn't know who the father of John, Sr. was who was b. c. 1690-1700. He had sons, Stephen, Valentine, Richardson (John says this one is a bro. to John Sr., but I didn't find that todate), John, Jr. (your line) b. ca. 1720 VA and Joseph Austin (my line of descent) b. c. 1730-32 VA. Now, John Austin, JR. b. c. 1720 married Mary McBee, dau. of Wm. McBee of Halifax Co.,VA. (Will found there) of which I have a copy of his Will. We have a McBee newsletter online too and you can contact MATMOM for that. Several of us relate to this McBee line (not my direct line but working on links in lineage). Now, if you want to connect with a few others on your Pinson/Gray/Stovall line contact HALGRA@aol.com for one. (Harold Gray of NC retired from AT&T). Harold just found me online recently and telephoned me. He told me about his Pinson connection to the Austins and his Rebecca Austin, dau. of John, Jr. married Mr. Gray...This I knew some years ago as I had seen the query in the Austins of America publication of which I was a member (no longer). A man was working on the Gray family line of VA, NC, TN. Vardry McBee, bro. of Mary McBee moved into SC and then was in Lincoln Co.,TN..TN Gen. Soc. published a book on lineages this past year and some of his line was printed. I have the book. Also, some of my lines went to NC too. I have folks to contact if you are interested? I used to belong to the Austin Family Assn. but dropped as it wasn't delivering enough info to the members. Another cousin on my Joseph's line is BAIRWIN (Barbara Irwin) online in CA. (AOL). Drop her a note too..she will be happy to hear from you. Most of the folks I am finding here online are related to the lineage of John, Jr. son of John, Sr. I am looking for connections to my Joseph Austin who married 1) Ms. Terry or Ms. Pruit (sister of second sp.) and 2) Welthy Pruit/Prewitt, dau. of Daniel Pruit of Halifax Co., VA who d. and left a Will. John Austin, Sr. did res. in Lunenburg Co., VA in 1750's and died by 1760 (Will on file there); Richardson Austin d. by 1760 also (Will on file). Stephen Austin removed aft Rev. War I think to TN (Hardin Co. I think). Valentine Austin stayed in VA I think, but don't have any data on his line. Richardson had connections to other families: Rice, Vernon, Alday (Peron Alday), Caldwell, Heard (need data on his line). A couple of ladies sent me their info on Alday family of NJ to VA. Not sure if it relates to Peron Alday? Joseph named one son, Champness Austin. Now the name of Champness runs in the Terry family also. Margaret Stafford in CA sent me all her boxes of files on her Thompson/Coleman/Austin/Blankinship in 1995 of which I copied and sent back. She was very gracious to share and trust me with all her data. She descends from Archibald Austin, b. 1767, sometimes called Archibald Pruit Austin, son of Jos. and Welthy Pruit Austin of Pittsylvania Co., VA. Archibald P. Austin mar. in 1800 to Rebecca Blankinship (according to mar. rec.). He moved to Grainger and Jefferson Co., TN later and then died in Whitfield Co., GA (Tunnell Hill in 1866). Margaret and Barbara descend from Archibald's line and are cousins. I am from the lineage of Stephen Austin, bro. to Archibald, who was b. 1769 VA. Mar. Rebecca Hankins dau. of Wm. Hankins and Elizabeth Davis of Pittsylvania Co., VA. Stephen's son, Owen Edw. Austin, b. abt. 1803 VA mar. Telitha Jane Covington (neighbors) in 1829 Rutherford co., Tn, dau. of John Covington and Jane Davis Hankins of Pittslyv. Co., VA also. Jane D. Hankins and Rebecca were sisters and daus. of Wm. hankins. whew! Making Owen and Telitha first cousins. Stephen Austin moved to Rutherford co., TN too and listed across the road from son Owen in 1840. An Indenture between them was drawn up in 1840 and by 1850 Stephen and wife settled in Bedford Co., TN near his older dau., Eliza Ann Austin Dearing. Stephen and wife died in this county after 1850's and buried at Lynchgap cem. (BellBuckle TN). So is Eliza Ann Dearing and spouse, Wm. Wilson Dearing, son of James Dearing and Elizabeth Hankins! See the involvement? I hope anyone working on these lines can contact me at Debbie Subject: Kings in LCT Date: Tue, 11 Feb 1997 13:41:44 -0700 Hello Fellow TN Rooters, I am in a dilemma regarding my KING ancestor who was listed as early as 1830 in Lincoln County census records. Ebenezer B. KING, b. 1810 in SC or NC, was very active in the Lincoln County community - he was married and had several children while there, served as Justice of the Peace for two terms, and also served as Overseer of Roads. An elderly lady, named Elender, b. 1778 in MD, (presumably his mother) was listed with him in most of the census records. By the 1850 Fed census he had moved to MS. Six of his children were born in Lincoln County, TN - from 1833 through 1844. His eldest was age 17 in 1850. His wife was Martha Brewer, born abt 1820-21 in TN. She appears to be too young to be the older children's mother. Also, there is a MS marriage record indicating they married in 1849 in MS. I cannot find the parentage of Ebenezer - who was his first wife? Was his mother Elender King? When did she lose her husband? Who was Martha Brewer's family? If anyone knows of this family, I would be so grateful to hear from them. Any information or suggestions of how to proceed in my search would be very welcome. Two possibilities-- son of Jesse Norman and Martha King, OR son of William Norman and Sarah Leonard. I'm sort of leaning toward the latter, because there's a William Norman and S.F. Norman buried in Shady Grove Cemetery (with all the rest of my line) with the right dates. Do you see any connections? There is BRYANT and HALL marriages in there, too. Hope to hear from you soon.
