Mrs. Williams was a life long resident of Lincoln County and a member of Kirkland Baptist church. Funeral services were conducted Saturday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the Prospect Baptist church officiated by Rev. L. M. Laten and Rev. R. B. Kennedy, with burial in the Church Yard Cemetery. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Houston Ventress and Mrs. Ollie Towry, four sons, Henderson, Granville, Leo and Sam Williams all of Lincoln County. Then under Bellview News in the same paper I found: The community extends their sympathy to the family of Mrs. Almeda Williams who passed away last Friday morning at the Lincoln County Hospital. Services were conducted Saturday afternoon at the Prospect Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Mrs. Williams had made her home here with her son, Mr. Henderson Williams and family. Do you know Jack Towry? He is much interested in genealogy and, I think, helps care for this cemetery. He has a computer, but the last time I talked with him he was not "on line". ---------- End of message ---------- From: MegLinGun@aol.com Subject: Gurley, Madison Co. Betsy intermarried with Reuben and lived with him for five years (might say a 'few' years). In the Lincoln circuit court March Term 1819 Betsy claimed that she and her child had been abandoned by Reuben. This was attested to by John Bruner and William Kelly Reuben did not respond and Betsy was ordered by the court to advertise for four weeks in succession in The Tennessee Herald, a public newspaper printed in the Town of Shelbyville commaning the said Reuben Holman to appear . . . . I tried to locate this advertisement in The Tennessee Herald, but we unable to find it. Can anyone help? Thank you. I was hoping for a lookup from you or another helper in Lincoln County. I am in search of information pertaining to Moses CLARK , Silas CLARK and John A. CLARK. Apparently this group of men lived in the early days of Lincoln County. In bios from Texas, Moses was noted as a early road surveyor around 1830's or so. Do happen to know of anyone who has information about this family line. Silas CLARK was the son of Moses. He lived in Lincoln County in 1850 and later moved to Texas where he and son John CLARK lived in Bell and Hopkins Counties of Texas. I believe that Moses CLARK is listed in Lincoln Co. Census records in subdivision #1 at the age of 76 with wife Sally. It is difficult to read the copy that the LDS church has to offer. Perhaps there is a biographical sketch on this family. I have copies of land records but no probate at present. Maybe the will of Moses Clark may give leads. In the Texas bio. on family it stated that Moses died in Lincoln County. I hope you can help me find this family. I will be happy to give a donation to your society if there are costs of copies incurred. Date: Sun, 20 Apr 1997 13:11:50 -0500 Tonya -- Don't know that this will be of any help but this is what I found: You said that you found Moses Clark, 76, and wife, Sally, 75. In the 1850 census by Shirley Cato (1991), household #794, those two were living the household of Nancy P. Rives, 56, and James Rives, 18. Moses, Sally and Nancy were all born in Virginia. James Rives was born in Tennessee. In household #793 was James L. Rives with wife Lucinda both born in Tennessee. Living on the other side (#795) was Joel Butler and wife Catherine, both born in South Carolina. A Silas Clark was four years old in 1850 in the household of Benj. F. Clark, 48, and wife, Polly, 44. Benjamin was born in Georgia and Polly in S. C. Looked in "Abstracts of Wills, LCT, 1810 - 1895" and found no Moses Clark. I have a Clark line but we have no Moses or Silas. My William Clark and his son, Lilburn Logan Clark, were from Glade Spring, Washington county, VA and came here to Lincoln county ca. 1825. We HAD a friend who lived in Medford, Oregon -- Esther (Mrs. Clifford) Hanson of 1860 Grandview. We used to keep in touch at Christmas, but it has now been two years since we heard from her. We all lived at Philmont Boy Scout Ranch & Explorer Base, Cimarron, NM over 20 years ago. By law, to protect the privacy of living individuals, Census records are kept private for 72 years! We're all looking forward to the year 2002 so we can see the 1930 records! Good luck! The new census comes available every 10 years due to a somewhat silly privacy law. In the year 2000 we will get the 1930, in 2010 the 1940 etc. The law is that everything under 70 years old is restricted. ---------- End of message ---------- From: THGH47A@prodigy.com ( ROBERT S DUGGAN JR) Subject: Jackson Co., AL Hist.
